Who’s Behind the Screen?
Hey there, my name is Frances!
By day, I'm a first-year Systems Design Engineering student at the University of Waterloo; by night, I'm an evolving designer!
Fueled by curiosity (and a healthy dosage of cucumbers), I'm constantly expanding my skillset, approaching challenges with a designer's eye and an engineer's mindset. Whether it's sketching wireframes or debugging code in class, I thrive at the intersection of design, art, and engineering, always looking for ways to create socially impactful products.

My Design Ethos

designer.
Design is clear, intentional, and human. I strip away the noise to craft solutions that are simple, usable, and thoughtful. To me, good design blends looks with function—it should feel natural and just work. That’s why I design with purpose, empathy, and clarity at every step.

dreamer.
I chase the “what ifs.” Curiosity killed the cat, sure, but curiosity is what fuels everything I do—from tinkering with tools to exploring ideas just for fun. It helps me see with fresh eyes, stay open to change, and bring playful, creative energy into every project I take on.

doer.
I learn by making. Whether I’m 3D printing, learning a new song on guitar, or prototyping an idea, I love bringing things to life. Hackathons, hobbies, side projects—they all help me stay sharp, creative, and always moving forward with fresh ideas.
